Content includes Physiology of Pregnancy, The Journey of Labor and Coping Techniques, Birth Preference Sheets, Risks and Benefits of Interventions including Induction, Medication and Cesarean, Evidence Based Care and the Culture of Childbirth in the USA, and Postpartum Care. To register please e-mail maggie@thejoyofbirth.com Comfort Measures for Labor Saturday, September 25 | 12:30-6pm | $175 Expectant Moms and Partners will learn about the physiology of labor, pain theories, hydrotherapy, hot/cold therapy, massage, acupressure points, breathing and relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, the birth ball and more.  Mom and partner will receive a helpful course pack. This class is a great compliment to the Holistic Childbirth Intensive as it goes into more depth on this subject, offering more options and hands on practice with various coping techniques. Written by David Weinstone, songs like Taxi, City Kid, and Subway provide children with a positive image of their world and help them relate to their surroundings. $120 for 4 week session To register click here A-Needle-Pulling-Thread Sew-n-Grow [3-6yrs] This  pre-sewing and sewing class is designed to give small children accessibility and hands-on experience with safe sewing tools and tasks. Children will learn sewing basics with each activity supporting the development of small motor skills and coordination, while allowing each child to express their individual creativity. The children will also learn to cooperate in a group and express ideas. All materials will be provided. Fashion Prep School [7-14yrs] A series of three kid-friendly, after school fashion classes. Each 4-week session has a different fashion focus: Fashion Design, Fashion Illustration or Fashion Sewing. Your little "Fashion Preppie" will learn age-appropriate fashion sketching and technical drawing, where to find inspiration, rendering fabrics, color  coordination, sewing tips and tricks, etc, all while having a blast! They will grow in their confidence, competence, creativity and individuality...so that they will not have to follow the trends, they can make their own! $99 for 4 week session or $275 for 12 week session To register click here Montessori Playgroup [18mo-3yrs] A Montessori based playgroup where the parents and the children are invited to explore the Montessori method. This playgroup is designed to introduce parents to the ideas and techniques used in Montessori classrooms, while introducing the children to the specific materials. The children will be able to explore the practical life, language, and sensorial materials. These materials are intended to be introduced to children at certain stages in their development so that they can learn skills, primarily problem solving skills that enable them to keep on learning as they grow. A great intro to a group class. Our program helps to develop motor, vocabulary and listening skills while being exposed to a variety of ethnic, classical, and folk music. Children use scarves, ribbon wands and instruments to develop there imagination and creativity. Children and parents will dance together to develop body awareness and discover how many different and exciting ways their bodies can move. A great way to connect with your child! Creative Dance [3-5yrs] Our Creative Dance program gives children the opportunity to explore dance as a means to self-awareness, creative expression, imagination, teamwork. Students will  explore other  styles of dance including modern, jazz, and folk dance as well as acrobatics to  give the students a wealth of skills to further their dance creativity, strength building, musicality, memorization and confidence.Children will learn pieces of choreography throughout the session and how to hear and respond to music in a rhythmic and organic way. Each class has a balance of  structured exercises and choreography as well as creative free dancing in which students have a chance to improv and choreograph their own dance and movement. Students will also learn how to dance and interact with partners, space, and movement patterns. Great dance class for boys! Tap + Dance Combo [3-5yrs] This class offers students chance to explore creative dance and beginning tap in one class. Children will explore many types of dance including folk, modern and tap as well as acrobatic and improv skills. This is a high energy class filled with eclectic music and imaginative choreography sure to keep even the most rambunctious child involved. $207 for nine week session To register click here Private Picassos Triangles, Circles + Squares [2-3yrs] Young artists age 2-3 will explore shapes, color and strengthen their fine motor skills through a variety of 2 & 3 dimensional mediums. By focusing on a specific color or theme each session, children will build their skills with drawing, collage, painting and small-scale sculpture. Recycled Art[2-3yrs] Young artists will use a variety of recycled materials to create two and three-dimensional artwork. Possible projects include: junk printmaking, recycled robot creation, city creation, fossil making and mobile creation.
